Try not to worry about doing things the ‘Right’ way or just like everyone else. What you want to do work with the materials you have. You can pluck the string, you can slide it across the paper and you can lay it down and press it onto the paper. There are a lot of things you can do to make something original.
What you need:
String
Poster paints
Newspaper
Drawing paper or any art paper you want to use
An art partner
Getting Started:
- Lay out a fair amount of newspaper on your working space and on the floor if need be.
- Put your art paper in the centre of the newspaper with your partner standing on the opposite side.
- Both of you hold the ends of the string.
- Dip the string in the paint in the centre covering the string for the size of the paper.
- Holding both ends taunt, about 5cm off the paper, pluck the string so that it snaps down onto the paper and leaves a mark.
- Now move the paper so that you can make another mark on a different part of the paper. You can make squares or designs as you choose.
- Try dragging the string across the paper once it has snapped down.
- Use different colors and see how the colours blend or spray when snapped.
- Once you have put the lines down that you want you can decide to paint it in or not.
