The Pokémon Company has launched Pokémon Kids TV, an English sister channel of the official Japanese Pokémon YouTube channel for children. Pokémon Kids TV makes available videos ranging from Pokémon songs and nursery rhymes to educational content catered primarily to children aged from three to seven.
“With the growing demand for video content worldwide, we aim to reach out to international markets, allowing more children from around the world to enjoy the content we deliver through Pokémon Kids TV in English. We are also planning to expand this concept in the future to other Asian countries and even create region-specific content in other languages. We would be truly delighted if more children can enjoy their time spent at home together with Pokémon,” says Takato Utsunomiya, the Representative Director and Chief Operating Officer of The Pokémon Company.
The channel offers a variety of educational and entertaining programmes consisting of famous nursery rhymes such as “London Bridge is Falling Down” and “Old MacDonald Had a Farm”. In addition, the channel also features the popular “Winter Wonderland” which adds a Pokémon touch to the holiday season.
The channel has a wide range of content that attracts children‘s interests, from a quiz series that stimulates their thinking to fun rhymes.
Children who love dancing will enjoy dancing to the globally popular song “If You‘re Happy and You Know It” along with Pikachu.
Since 2019, Pokémon Kids TV (Japan) has hosted a Japan-focused YouTube channel that delivers videos featuring nursery rhymes, children’s songs, and educational content including English learning. The channel is an avenue where many children can “meet” Pokémon for the first time, and is seen as a safe source of entertainment for children among parents.
Over the years, Pokémon has accumulated a large fan base among children, making a big name for itself in the children entertainment world. It has established a large media entertainment franchise beginning with a series of video games, and simultaneously moving on to producing successful anime series, movies, and merchandise, and not forgetting, the spin-off game Pokémon Go that has crossed 1 billion mobile game downloads worldwide.
